Shantmanu conducts review meeting

LEH: Commissioner Secretary Health and Medical Education, Shantmanu conducted a meeting to review the education, recruitment, salary and infrastructure of the Health Department here on Tuesday.
Deputy Commissioner Leh Saugat Biwas was also present in the meeting.
Chief Medical Officer Leh, Dr. Phuntsog Wangchuk said that there is urgent requirement for filling up of vacant posts of 14 specialist doctors, 38 MBBS doctors and 11 dental surgeons. He added that the department is facing problems by not getting the funds released under several central government schemes which include pending salary of bureau and SCs staff, completion of DPC cases and creation of an Urban Health Centre for Leh town. He further said that the department is lacking three Ambulance and drivers for the ambulances provided under MP LAD. He requested the Commissioner to designate SNM Hospital as associated hospital to facilitate study of high altitude medicines and for referral to tertiary care centre.
Chief Amchi SNM Hospital Leh and Drugs and Food Control Department Leh also presented their demands in front of the Commissioner Secretary.
Commissioner Secretary, Shantmanu after patiently listening to all the issues gave directions to prepare proposals for certain issues for further actions needed to be taken.
Among those who were present in the meeting include Cheif Medical Officer Dr. Phunchok Wangchuk, Chief Education Officer Tsewang Punchok, Medical Superintendent Dr. Yangchan Dolma, Dy CMO Dr. Norphel, District Social Welfare Officer Spalgon and Chief Planning Officer Tsering Angchok.
