JAMMU: Various developmental initiatives are underway to provide better amenities to the people, especially in the rural areas. This was stated by the Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary while addressing a public meeting at shrine of Baba Birfa Nath in Kalali Tibba, RS Pura.
The people hailing from various sections of the society apprised the Minister with their demands related to improving power supply, education, healthcare, sanitation and road connectivity.
The minister, while assuring the people that their genuine demands will be fulfilled in phased manner, said that directions have been given to the Power Development Department and PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Department to expedite the process of installing new transformers and commissioning new Water Supply Schemes for streamlining power and water supply in rural areas.
The Minister made a strong pitch for active public participation in strengthening the developmental initiatives and effective implementation of welfare programmes. “It is the responsibility of every citizen to play his part in the development of the nation and everyone must try to become a change agent in the society,” he added. He also called for public cooperation in making ‘Clean & Green India’.
Earlier, the Minister laid the foundation stone of a Gurdwara at Katyal in Suchetgarh.
While addressing the gathering, the Minister said that every possible help would be provided to the District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (DGPC) and other stakeholders for the construction of the holy shrine. Honorary Captain Bana Singh, PVC and other officers of DGPC were present on the occasion.
