Sham Lal visits various Wards, ensures proper utilization of development funds, addresses public concerns

JAMMU: Sham Lal Sharma, MLA Jammu North, conducted an extensive visit to Wards 34, 35, 36, 37, and 64, accompanied by local leaders, ex-corporators, and senior officials from the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC). During the visit, he reviewed the ongoing developmental projects, interacted with the local residents, and ensured that public grievances were addressed effectively.
The MLA was joined by Ravish Mengi, Mandal President (Janipur), along with Ex-Corporators Rani Devi (Ward 34), Yashpal Sharma (Ward 35), Subash Sharma (Ward 36), Sunita Gupta (Ward 37), and Kapil Chib (Ward 64).
Senior officials, including Nawaz Ahmed Banday (XEn JMC), Afzal Ahmed Wani (AEE), and JEs Ranjan Sharma and Amit Verma, provided updates on the projects and the financial allocations in each ward.
During the visit, the financial details for the development of various wards were highlighted. For Ward 34, a total of Rs 103.08 lakhs has been allocated, comprising Rs 63 lakhs from the City Grant and Rs 40.08 lakhs as Financial Assistance. Ward 35 has been allotted Rs 97.48 lakhs, with Rs 60 lakhs from the City Grant and Rs 37.48 lakhs as Financial Assistance. Similarly, Ward 36 will receive Rs 95.47 lakhs, with Rs 60 lakhs from the City Grant and Rs 35.47 lakhs in Financial Assistance. Ward 37 has been allocated Rs 104.06 lakhs, which includes Rs 60.06 lakhs from the City Grant and Rs 44 lakhs as Financial Assistance. Additionally, Ward 64 has a total budget of Rs 71 lakhs for the cost of work.
Sham Lal emphasized the importance of ensuring that the allocated funds are utilized properly, with a strong focus on maintaining the quality of work. He directed the concerned departments to prioritize addressing public grievances promptly and efficiently.
During his interaction with residents, the MLA listened to their concerns and assured them of immediate action on pressing issues. He also issued strict instructions to hold accountable those officials and departments who fail to deliver on their duties. “Public welfare is our utmost priority. Any negligence or delay in resolving public issues will not be tolerated,” stated Sharma.
To further enhance public engagement, Sham Lal stressed the importance of transparent communication between officials and the community.
He directed the municipal officers to establish dedicated grievance redressal mechanisms to ensure that every issue is resolved in a time-bound manner. This initiative is aimed at building trust and accountability within the system.
The MLA also highlighted the significance of collaborative efforts between the administration and the public to achieve meaningful progress in the constituency.
He urged residents to actively participate in monitoring developmental projects and provide feedback to ensure transparency and accountability in the implementation process. Sham Lal Sharma reiterated his commitment to the welfare and development of the Jammu North constituency, stating that every ward will receive equal attention to improve infrastructure and enhance the quality of life for all citizens. He assured the people that he will continue to work tirelessly to address their issues and create a stronger, more prosperous community.
