JAMMU: Responding to the demands of the local residents, Arvind Gupta, MLA Jammu West, on Monday visited the Cremation Ground at Shakti Nagar, Jammu, to take stock of the issues faced by the community. The visit highlighted the urgent need for cleanliness and renovation of the infrastructure at the site.
During the interaction with the people, the residents emphasized the importance of maintaining the sanctity of the Cremation Ground, which serves as a vital facility for the last journey of life.

They appealed for better upkeep and enhanced amenities, ensuring dignity and convenience for those visiting the site.
Addressing the gathering, Arvind Gupta assured the residents that their concerns would be addressed on priority. He emphasized that the Cremation Ground holds significant emotional and cultural value, and its development will reflect the community’s respect for life and death alike. “We are committed to ensuring that this sacred place is equipped with all necessary facilities and is maintained with the utmost care,” he said.
Arvind Gupta emphasized the need for the development of the cremation ground to ensure dignified last rites for all. He stated that upgrading the facility with proper infrastructure, including shelter, seating, and sanitation, is a basic necessity for the community. He urged the authorities concerned to prioritize this project, highlighting its significance in maintaining respect for cultural and religious practices.
Arvind Gupta further announced a series of measures, including immediate steps to improve cleanliness and a detailed plan for upgrading the infrastructure. He stressed that the development of such sites aligns with the broader vision of improving civic amenities in Jammu West.
The MLA was accompanied by officials from Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) led by Surinder Choudhary, as well as prominent local leaders, including Ex-Corporator Atul and Mandal Presidents Keshav Chopra, Vedu Sharma, Kushant Karan, and Mohit.
