POONCH: Large number of youth and local residents reached the memorial of Shaheed Waryam Singh, which is located within the premises of Government Degree College Poonch. Brave student leader and hero of Durli Agitation in 1978 sacrificed his life against step motherly treatment and unemployment issues of District Poonch.
On December 2, 1978, this young and dynamic hockey player of Degree College Poonch laid his life to pave way to development and employment generation to almost 250 youths. It is pertinent to mention that every year, martyrdom of Shaheed Waryam Singh reminds us about his supreme sacrifice. People from all walks of life and students gathered at his memorial to pay rich tributes to son of soil. Many of the student leaders and relatives spoke on this occasion and remembered his contributions for development of border town.
