POONCH: Shaheed DySP Manjit Singh Memorial Volleyball Club Poonch congratulated Secretary J&K Sports Council (JKSC), Nuzhat Gul on being awarded the Meritorious Public Service award by the Government of J&K.
Congratulating the Secretary, Chairman of the Club, Mohd Tariq termed the award as well deserved for service in the field of sports.
This award is a testament to her (Nuzhat) work and dedication towards making J&K youth healthy and fit thus keeping them away from the menace of drugs.
On behalf of the sports fraternity of J&K, lovers of sports especially those associated with the game of volleyball, the Club extended congratulations.
“Your motherly treatment and approach the sportspersons has made a significant difference in the entire sports community, and you have set an example for others to follow,” Mohd Tariq said adding that being the first woman Secretary in J&K Sports Council, JKSC has achieved many milestones.
Immediate after resuming charge of Secretary J&K Sports Council, Mohd Tariq said, she conducted 2nd Khelo India National Winter Games 2021 and made it a success despite many challenges like unpredictable weather conditions and COVID threats.
It is during her tenure she made Sports Associations streamlined and direct payment system to athletes through DBT Mode, Tariq said adding that she also guided authorities to frame much away Recruitment Policy under S.O.12 for sportspersons in Gazatted & Non Gazatted posts was introduced and played a key role in bringing Sports Policy in J&K.
Sports Infrastructure in J&K witnessed unprecedented growth in all districts that includes International Standard Stadiums, High Mast Lighting, Synthetic Turfs, Synthetic Athletic Track, Multi Indoor Sports Complex and much more facilities for local athletes and with these facilities, Tariq said, she made a record breaking 28 lakhs youth engagement in 2022 connecting tribal areas, border areas, sensitive areas, Downtown, South & North Kashmir local athletes to sports ecosystem.
Under her leadership J&K Sports Council received Indian Governance SKOCH Award 2022 for best Governance in the field of Sports under My Youth My Pride & Azadi Ka Amrut Mohoutsav programmes.
