Jammu: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Shabir Ahmed Khan on Saturday ‘took strong exception’ to linking him with the student, who allegedly set the Tricolour on fire in Dental College Jammu after India lost to West Indies in T20 cricket match in Wankhade Stadium in Mumbai the other day.
In a statement , Khan disassociated himself from the student, identified as Inzamam-ul-Haq, saying he had no social or political connections with him. “His (Inzamam’s) father Babu Hussian is a prominent functionary of PDP in District Rajouri”, Khan added.
He acknowledged Inzamam being his distant relative but said the family has strained social relations with him because his father had joined PDP before the last Assembly elections and was nominated as Vice President of PDP District Rajouri. “In view of this, the reference of my name in the matter is unfortunate”, the former minister added.
