UDHAMPUR: Strongly condemning the statement of Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh calling Hizb Commander Burhan Wani’s encounter as accidental, MLA Udhampur Pawan Kumar Gupta expressed shock over the manner the government is handling this sensitive situation.
While addressing a press conference Gupta said that due to government’s lack of foresight and determination the situation is glaringly leading to a rebellious siege of Kashmir Valley and moreover people from Jammu who brought BJP to State’s center stage for the first time are feeling deceived. He said Dy CM’s apathy to nation has proved time and again when he termed Lathicharge on outside students in NIT as mild one and now the outrageous statement on Wani.
This attitude where BJP has become lackey to PDP has only bolstered terrorist’s anti national agenda. This is besides the shock and tremor they have given to entire nation specially J and K by allowing the anti national and overtly communal amendments in the Transfer of Property Act and J and K Land Alienation Act to be passed in Cabinet.
This government in the State has allowed the allegations against the security forces handling a very difficult situation to go uncontested.
“Isn’t it true that more than 2,500 security men have been injured out of which more than 200 are still in the hospitals? Isn’t it true that more security forces personnel have been injured in the recent unrest in Kashmir than the civilians? Isn’t it true that out of hundreds of incidence of violence, arson, loot and plunder unleashed by organised seditious mobs in Kashmir including throwing of petrol bombs, hand grenades and firing, on an average just two to three persons have been injured per incidence”, he said. He claimed that there is no security force in the world which is capable of showing such a restrain in the light of life threatening attacks on the civilians and the security forces. He told that government should not have chosen to remain silent while an orchestrated campaign has been unleashed against the security forces in the State.
“More intriguing is the soft pedaling and suppression by the PDP-BJP government of the grave assaults on the hapless minorities living in Kashmir. It is deplorable that the Deputy Chief Minister chose to lie to the people of this State and the nation that nothing untoward has happened to the minorities living in Kashmir. It is a fact that hundreds of employees have fled Kashmir to save their life and honour. It is also a fact than even the Amarnath pilgrims have not been spared and subjected to harassment, arson and assault. Government’s attitude and mute spectator attitude is ensuring one more religious cleansing in the State,” Pawan stressed.
Undoubtedly it will not be wrong to say that the separatist forces and the fundamentalist forces in the State are out to destabilise the situation to undermine integrity and sovereignty of the nation in the State, he said adding they need to be dealt with a firm hand as sedition and communal hatred has no place in India and anybody indulging in such activities should be stopped whatever be the consequences. BJP-PDP have allowed the authority of the state to be eroded, he said adding their attitude has belittled the command and respect of the entire security forces. The government should restore the authority of the State and rule of law as a foremost priority and shun all this diffidence, Pawan maintained.
