Separatists deserve jail, not Indian passport
Dear Editor,
The Union Government’s refusal to process separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani’s incomplete passport application (unpaid fees, missing biometric details and photographs) has come as a welcome surprise. It is the same Geelani who is reported to have told the Kashmiri people that “we are Pakistani, Pakistan is ours”. If he is a Pakistani, then why does he come to New Delhi and not go to Islamabad for his passport? He, along with secessionists such as Yasin Malik and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, continue to regurgitate venom against the nation, off and on.
Not long ago, Malik was seen taking part in a hunger strike in Pakistan along with the most-wanted Mumbai carnage co-conspirator Hafiz Sayeed. The trio has also been having regular meetings with the Pakistani High Commissioner. Those who engage in anti-national activities must never get an Indian passport. These people deserve jail.
