Semis line-up drawn in inter-college hockey

JAMMU: Semifinals lineup has been drawn in the ongoing inter-college men’s hockey tournament, organised by the Department of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu at K K Hakhu Stadium, here on Thursday.
Now, the semifinals have been scheduled for Friday from 10:00 AM onwards. Earlier, MAM College, Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua, GDC Poonch and MBS College of Engineering and Technology made it to the last four stages of the competition.
In the quarterfinals, GDC Kathua blanked Post Graduate (PG) Departments of Law and Sciences 6-0. Tanvir Singh (third), Abishek Sharma (seventh), Ramandeep Singh (eighth), Rajjat Khajuria (25th), Sahil Bhadwal (55th) and Raghav Singh Punia (56th) were the scorers.
The MAM College trounced GDC Hiranagar 2-1. Gurtej Singh and Rammy Sharma were the scorers from winners MAM College in 23rd and 52nd minute of the match respectively.
For GDC Hiranagar, Tarun Kumar reduced the margin in the 37th minute.
In another last eight stages match, GDC Poonch trounced GGM Science College 2-1. Gourav Raina netted both the goals in the fourth and 47th minute of the match. Ravijeet Singh was the lone scorer from Science College who struck in the 49th minute.
The formidable side of MBS College registered a 7-2 win against PG Arts. Navdeep Singh (11th), Prabhjot Singh (18th and 51st), Navleen Singh (21st and 35th), Sarabjot Singh (28th) and Amitpal Singh (54th) scored for winners MBS College. From PG Arts, Satwant Singh netted both the goals in 34th and 41st minute of the match.
Today’s quarterfinals were officiated by the technical penal comprising D Singh, Joginder Singh, Jagjit Singh, Jasbir Singh, Mukesh Sharma and P.D Singh.
Meanwhile, as per the organisers, the hockey competition in women’s section shall start on Friday at the same venue.
BASKETBALL: In the inter-college men’s basketball tournament, underway at MA Stadium, here, SPMR College of Commerce beat GDC Kathua 52-46 ( ht 28-21). Rishab remained top scorer with 20 points while Jaskirat added 17. For Kathua College, Rishab and Priyansh were main contributors to the score with 15 and nine points respectively.
Today’s match was conducted by Rajesh Bandral and Sumit Dogra.
