Secy JKSC declares open Khelo India Wushu League

SRINAGAR: Secretary J&K Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul on Thursday declared open two-day Khelo India Wushu Women’s League championship at SKISC Srinagar.
Around 700 girls from 15 districts turned up for the mega event which is being organised under Khelo India scheme by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, a handout issued by the Wushu Association of J&K (WAJK) informed.
In her address, the chief guest appreciated the Association for popularising the game around the Union Territory (UT) of J&K. She said that Wushu sports has produced so many international Women Wushu athletes, who brought laurels to the UT including Ayeera Chisti, Munazah Gazi, Sadia Tariq, Kaifa Shah, Ansa Chisti, Jabeena Akhter, Abida from Bandipora and Riya Chib.
She laid emphasis on making UT J&K ‘Nasha Mukt’.
She was all praise for champion athlete, Surya Bhanu Partap Singh and Kuldeep Handoo (Dronacharya Awardee) for their selection for the 19th Asian Games.
Among others present were Riyaz Sheikh (Administrative Officer of JKSC), Jahangir, Mohd Iqbal, Kamal Kishore, Ajaz Hassan and Appu Jamwal.
