Mehbooba’s presence at the Kheer Bhawani temple was, indeed, a masterstroke of her public display of the intrinsic secular credentials of real Kashmiriyat. It sent a strong message both to the separatists and their well-wishers across the LoC. In addition, her insistence on providing the state with good governance, with full support of her partner and ally, the BJP, augurs well for fulfillment of the peoples’ aspirations regarding restoration of abiding peace, fight against terrorists and all-round development in this troubled State. That’s an idea whose time has come!
