Secretary I&B Ministry visits PIB, CBC Jammu, reviews functioning of media units & merger of CBC & PIB

JAMMU: Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (I&B), Government of India, Apurva Chandra who was on a two-day visit to Jammu on Saturday visited Press Information Bureau (PIB) and Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Jammu and reviewed the functioning of media units and merger of CBC and PIB.
During the visit, Chandra took a brief about the level of participation in the outreach programs being conducted by CBC and its field units across J&K.
Chandra said, PIB and CBC will play an important role in projecting the transformation of J&K and Ladakh at national level. He also appreciated the outreach programmes by CBC and media coverage provided by PIB in far flung areas.
Chandra mentioned about the new trend of hosting national level conferences in J&K like G20 and the role of PIB and other media units of MIB in projecting such events at national and international level.
Chandra further said, media tours will be increased from outside to J&K and vice versa.
Joint Director, CBC J&K Ladakh, Ghulam Abbas briefed the secretary about the importance of field units and the outreach programs for one to one communication at the grassroots level.
He also briefed about the outreach programs conducted in remote locations like Kargil and Machhedi.
Deputy Director, CBC J&K Ladakh, Ayushi Puri briefed about the annual action plan of CBC and all the programmes planned for the financial year 2023-24. Puri briefed about the social media activities of handles of CBC J&K and Ladakh. Puri also showed pictures of the strength of participants and innovative activities included in in the outreach programmes of CBC.
Others present during the visit were DDG DD and AIR, Ravikanta Babu, Deputy Director (News) DD and AIR, Ramesh Raina and other officials of PIB and CBC.
