Scooty theft case solved, accused held, vehicle recovered

JAMMU: In a prompt and effective action, Jammu Police successfully solved a scooty theft case and arrested a habitual offender, leading to the recovery of the stolen vehicle within the jurisdiction of Police Station City Jammu. The case surfaced after a complaint was received regarding the theft of a Honda Activa 125 bearing registration number JK02BN0644. Acting swiftly on the complaint, a case FIR No. 08/2026 under Sections 303(2)/111 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was registered at Police Station City Jammu and investigation was set into motion.

During the course of investigation, police teams comprising PSI Imran Hameed and HC Mohd Younis worked relentlessly under the guidance of SHO Inspector Shakti Devi and under the supervision of SDPO City North and SP City North. The teams conducted extensive searches and raids at various locations to trace the missing vehicle. With the assistance of reliable human intelligence and careful analysis of CCTV footage obtained from Jammu Smart City surveillance cameras, the police zeroed in on a suspect and apprehended him. During sustained questioning, the accused disclosed his identity as Sandeep Jandial, son of Late Manohar Lal, resident of Ward No. 04, Bishnah, Jammu, and confessed to having committed the theft.
On his disclosure, the stolen scooty was successfully recovered. Further scrutiny revealed that the accused is a habitual offender and had previously been involved in multiple theft cases registered at Police Stations Nowabad, Satwari, City and Bahu Fort.
