School bus overturns in Jammu; over 35 students injured

JAMMU: Over 35 students were injured when a bus turned turtle while they were returning from a picnic here late Saturday evening, officials said.

The incident occurred at Ring road near Ratnal in Bishnah area and the condition of all the injured was stated to be stable, the officials said.
The bus was carrying 40 students and 10 teaching staff from a school in Pragwal border area. They were returning after day-long picnic in Samba when the driver lost control after hitting a divider, causing the vehicle to overturn, they said.
They said the rescuers immediately swung into action and shifted the injured students to hospital.
The injured persons include Saveeta Manhas (35), wife of Arjun Singh, resident of Sajwal, Akhnoor, a teacher; Bandna Kumari (22), daughter of Tarseem Singh, resident of Meerpur, Pargwal, a teacher; Saroj Devi (34), wife of Balwinder Singh, resident of Pargwal, a teacher; Naksh Thakur (10), son of Tarseem Singh, resident of Pargwal, a student; Neeraj Singh (52), son of Baldev Singh, resident of Takwal, Pargwal, a cook; Mavisksha Rajput (6), daughter of Arjun Singh, resident of Gurha Manhasa, Pargwal, a student; Paras Rajput (9), son of Sohan Singh, resident of Pargwal, a student; Abhay Kumar (15), son of Pritam Chand, resident of Pindi, Pargwal, a student; Dhanvir Singh (11), son of Parshotam Singh, resident of Pargwal, a student; Sneha Manhas (25), daughter of Tarsem Singh, resident of Pargwal, a teacher; Jeewan Manhas (16), son of Veer Bahadur Singh, resident of Pargwal, a student; Manvi Sharma (16), daughter of Joginder Kumar, resident of Pargwal, a student; Lakshmi Verma (16), daughter of Raj Kumar, resident of Pargwal, a student; and Sohan Singh (35), son of Sham Singh, resident of Pargwal, a teacher.
