KATRA : The Holy Town of Katra on the foothills of Mata Vaishno Devi, has been turned un-holy because of haphazard dumping of garbage in vacant spaces, lanes and drains, Chowks and surroundings of town. The visitors point out the problem in an apparent gesture of covering their nose while passing through Bus Stand, Reasi Road, Panthal Road, Railway Road, Banganga Road, Jammu Road and Hospital Road.
The team of WECARE Society on Monday visited these areas and interacted with the hoteliers, tourists, various traders, Rehriwalas, vegetable and fruit sellers and discussed the problem and invited their attention to the call of Prime Minister Narender Modi. The Convener of the NGO said that on one hand the PM is personally engaging himself in the cleanliness drive and on the other hand we spread and scatter the garbage. He further said that instead of Swachh, we are making Katra dirty.
The problem was also brought to the notice of SDM Katra who was requested to issue suitable instructions to the concerned quarters to abide by the call of Prime Minister Narender Modi, an NGO official said.
