Satish Sharma inaugurates zonal conference of north zone AIWC, 21st UT Matsogi-do championship

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Women Society, a branch of All India Women’s Conference (AIWC) one of the organisation involved in the field of women education and development, on Thursday held a day long zonal conference of North Zone AIWC at Forest Information Centre, Bikram Chowk, Jammu.
The event was organised in collaboration with Department of Tourism in which about 100 women delegates from J&K and other Northern States participated in the conference.

Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Transport, Science & Technology, Information Technology, Youth Services & Sports and ARI & Training, Satish Sharma, was the chief guest on the occasion where as Satya Devi, Jan Shiksha Sansthan, Banu Mahajan, Former Corporator, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu were the Guests of Honour.
Kalyani Raj, National President, Manju Kak, Secretary General and Sumi Chopra, Zonal organiser of All India women’s Conference from central body New Delhi, presided over the conference.
Nirmal Padha, President Jammu and Kashmir Women Society (Br. AIWC) welcomed the participants.
Kalyani Raj, President AIWC apprised the Minister of the functioning of society and women empowerment. She also highlighted the initiatives being taken by the Society for welfare of women.
While speaking on the occasion, the Minister highlighted the importance of women in nation building ,emphasising the need for greater empowerment of women in all sectors. “Women’s contribution to India’s socio-economic growth is essential,” maintained the Minister.
The Minister said that women of Jammu and Kashmir are capable of achieving great heights in every field and government is committed to provide all possible support to deserving as well aspiring women who are ready to work hard to achieve their goals.
The Minister also inaugurated 21st UT Matsogi-do Championship 2024 at the Indoor Complex, Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu.
S Taranjeet Singh Tony, DDC Member Suchetgarh, who is also the President of Matsogi-do Association J&K presided over the event.
The event organized by the Matsogi-do Association of Jammu and Kashmir from November 28 to November 30, 2024, has drawn significant participation, with 950 competitors from across the region.
The Minister was informed that medal winners from this championship will represent Jammu and Kashmir at the upcoming National Matsogi-do tournament, scheduled to be held in Chandigarh in December 2024.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister exhorted that government is committed to encourage young budding talent by providing them best sports infrastructure and modern facilities so that they can represent the UT in national and international events.
Later, the Minister visited village Palel in panchayat Dori Dager and paid obeisance at birth place of Baba Mai Mal.
The Minister also interacted with local villagers who apprised him regarding their grievances/demands.
After listening their issues, the Minister assured them that all their genuine grievances will be redressed in a phased manner.
