Sat meets Chief Engineer PWD, raises concern over condition of roads

JAMMU: To discuss the issue of dilapidated roads in Jammu West Constituency, State Vice President BJP and MLA Jammu West Sat Sharma (CA) on Thursday called on Chief Engineer PWD (R&B) Alok Mengi.
XEns PWD (R&B) Rajesh Bhagat and Rajan Mengi were also present in the meeting.
Sat said that the problem of dilapidated roads in many parts of the Constituency is deteriorating with each passing day.
He instructed the PWD (R&B) officials to immediately start the work on those roads for which the tenders have been received by the department. However, he also asked to recall those tenders for which no quotations were filed by the contractors.
The MLA also said that crores of rupees have been sanctioned by the Central Government for black-topping of roads and the department must look into the matter seriously and immediately start the work.
The Chief Engineer told the MLA that the black-topping of roads along Janipur Main road will start within a week’s time adding that the patch works will also be initiated soon.
Meanwhile, Sat felicitated meritorious students in a programme held at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Bakshi Nagar.
The students who were honoured include Shivam Gupta (81.6 per cent), Ranjesh Kumar (80.8 per cent), Arjun Kumar (80 per cent), Amit Kumar (75 per cent) in Science subjects whereas Amar Kumar (78.4 per cent) in Arts and Sumit Singh (74 per cent) in Commerce subject. Arush Gupta, Vishal Mehra, Ridham Bharti, Anchal Singh, Atul Shukal, Tenzin Gaydun and Naveen Sharma were also felicitated for getting first division.
Principal Rajni Bala, Kalpana Gupta, Jai Singh, Neena Sagotra, Robina Shaheen, Sarita Gupta, Reva Gupta, Indu Manhas, Ritu Dewan, Yamini Attrey, Radhika Kohli, Pravisha Dogra, XEn PWD (R&B) Rajesh Bhagat, BJP leaders Ayodhya Gupta, Prem Kumar Gupta, Suresh, Tripta Jamwal, Sanjay Sawhney and Ankush were also present on the occasion.
