JAMMU: To address the water problem in many parts of the Jammu West during the summer season, State Vice President BJP and MLA Jammu West Sat Sharma (CA) met Chief Engineer PHE Prem Kumar and other senior officials of the department and discussed various remedial measures in order to cope with the shortage being faced by the people.
The MLA apprised the Chief Engineer that many areas in the Constituency are facing acute shortage of water. He further apprised that the unscheduled power cuts in the area have been the main cause of delayed water supply and it has to be dealt soon so that public should not suffer during the summer.
The MLA assured that he will take up the issue with the Power Development authorities as well so that no interruption could be caused concerning the water supply.
Various issues regarding the ongoing works of ERA in Jammu West were also discussed which have been causing obstruction in many areas as their ongoing works have resulted into damaging of many water supply pipes.
The MLA spoke to the ERA officials as well and directed them to defer their works which have been causing inconvenience to the consumers of Jammu West. A drilled and capped Tube Well at Bakshi Nagar will be started shortly by the Department which will cover adjoining areas of Bakshi Nagar as well, the MLA said.
The Mechanical Division of PHE also explained the augmentation works in progress for long term in Jammu West which includes augmentation of supply at CPS Medical, from Rajpura to Bakshi Nagar, Old University Campus, ERA Sub Division Bakshi Nagar, R1 Station Paloura, Proposal for Tube Well in Bakshi Nagar, Mini Bores Near Canal and various other projects.
It was also discussed that tube well at Rehari Park is not being utilized properly and it will also be brought under full utilization so that daily more than 100000 gallons could be produced from that also.
Superintending Engineer Sunil Gupta, XEn Ajay Wazir, XEn KK Badyal, AEE SK Abrol, AEE Dhountly Ashwani Khajuria, AEE Muthi Rajinder Bali, AEE Sheetlee S. Amarjit Singh, AE Chander Shekhar, AEE Mech. Rajeev Mohan, JE Surinder Chanyal, BJP Leaders Ayodhya Gupta, Sanjay Baru, Balwan Singh, Dinesh Onkar Singh, Surinder Choudhary and others were also present in the meeting.
