Sasan describes budget directionless, anti-poor

JAMMU: Provincial Vice President National Conference Gurdeep Singh Sasan on Thursday described the Jammu and Kashmir Budget 2016-17 as directionless and anti-poor, saying key sectors like agriculture , transport, industry, tourism, pilgrim tourism, horticulture, hotel industry have totally been ignored. “Unemployment and issues with regard to regularisation of daily wagers has taken alarming proportions and the government has not given any roadmap how to tackle these problems”, Sasan said while addressing a gathering at Sainik Colony here. He lambasted the Coalition Government for its total failure on all the fronts and said the people were feeling dejected and deprived. He referred to the budgetary proposals and said that but for jugglery of words and numbers, it has nothing to offer to the people of the State. “With the hike in VAT from 13.5 per cent to 14.5 per cent on essential commodities, the common people are destined to feel the brunt”, he said. Sasan also expressed anguish over ignoring PoK refugees and reminded the BJP of its tall claims and lofty promises which have just proved hoax. He also criticised Modi Government for irrationally increasing petrol and diesel prices frequently even as their prices had substantially gone down in the international market. He sought immediate rollback hike in the petroleum prices. Among those who spoke on the occasion included Capt. PP Singh , Charan Singh,Gagandeep Singh, Roshan Lal, Jagpal Singh, Surinder Singh, Baldev Singh, Col. Highness Singh, Col Joginder Singh, Charan Dass and Reminder Kumar.
