JAMMU: 2nd Additional Sessions Judge, Jammu, Subash C. Gupta on Saturday granted interim bail to Daily Excelsior staffer Pawan Gupta, son of Kasturi Lal, resident of 63, Gali Devi Dawara, Purani Mandi and all the other accused persons except Ashwani Kumar against whom General Arrest Warrants have been issued. The accused persons are involved in much publicized scam.
On 26th May, 2011, the Domana Police unearthed a sex racket and registered FIR No 170/2011 under section 366-A/376 RPC. According to the medical report, the victim was raped and her age about 14 to 16 years. The statement of the victim was also recorded under section 164-A CrPC.
Santosh Kumari, wife of vijay Kuamr, resident of Durga Nagar, who has allegedly been in the flesh trade for the past several years, has brought the orphan, Anita (name changed) to Jammu from Kishtwar on 3rd March 2011, on the pretext of getting her married.
According to police case, Daily Excelsior staffer Pawan Gupta has allegedly taken the minor girl to his hotel at Moti Bazaar and repeatedly raped her. His employer and Editor-in-Chief Daily Excelsior S.D Rohmetra Chittu had tried to put pressure on police to get Pawan Gupta scot-free from the clutches of police. He adopted all means to intimidate the police which, however, stood steadfast and ignored the illogic and illegal intervention by Chittu Rohmetra and proceeded against the accused as per law.
According to the police case, the victim lodged a written report in Police Stations Domana. In the complaint the victim submitted that she was minor and resident of village of Kishtwar. Her parents had expired and she has no other sibling. She further submitted that one Santosh Devi resident of her village who was married at Durga Nagar Jammu visited of her house at Kishtwar on the day of Shivratri. Santosh Devi lured her on the pretext that she would marry to a good boy in Jammu. Knowing well that the innocent girl was without ant guardian she thrust her into flesh trade. She was forced to have sex against her will with the accused persons. The victims finally escaped from the clutches of Santosh Devi. On receipt of report a case was registered under FIR No 170/2011 under Section 366-A/376 RPC.
