Sant Gurbaksh Singh Danna Memorial Hockey Tournament: Poonch Club beats MBS in opening hockey tie

JAMMU: Power House Poonch won inaugural match of the Second Sant Gurbaksh Singh Danna Memorial Hockey Tournament, organised by Sarb Sangat under the aegis of Hockey Jammu and Kashmir at K K Hakhu Stadium, here on Sunday.
The Poonch Club defeated Mahant Bachiter Singh (MBS) Club Simbal Camp by three goals to one. Sohail Azeen netted two goals for the winning team in the 36th and 59th minute respectively. Other goal came through Navjot Singh, who sounded the board in 57th minute.
Yudhvinder Singh reduced the margin for MBS Club, who struck in the 58th minute converting a penalty corner. Earlier, MBS got number of chances in the shape of seven penalty corners but could convert just one into goal.
Today’s match was officiated by the technical penal including Iqbal Singh, D Singh, Dalbir Mehta, Joginder Singh, Amarjeet Singh and G S Bakshi (tournament director).
Earlier, the tournament declared open by Inspector General of Home Guards, J.P Singh, who was Chief Guest. He was introduced to the teams by Organising Secretary, Sant Tejwant Singh of Dera Sant Pura Danna.
