Samsung unveils world’s first ‘dual-screen’ smartphone
London : South Korean technology giant Samsung Electronics unveiled Wednesday a range of devices including a smartphone with a curved screen that gives it the ability to offer two sources of display.
The Galaxy Note Edge has a curved 5.6 inch display that extends and wraps around the right side of the smartphone.
Set to go on sale in autumn this year, the phablet will enable users to read incoming SMSes off the smaller notification window while seamlessly checking their e-mail messages off the main screen.
The curved screen offers quick access to various apps, updates and top-mounted shutter buttons when using the phone as a camera.
They can also use the built-in Edge panel window to display items such as weather information and news headlines on the smaller, slimmer window, while viewing something else on the main screen, The Straits Times reported.
The Galaxy Note Edge is a variant of the company’s highly successful Samsung Galaxy Note series of phablet devices.
