Samba wins inaugural tie in State Handball

JAMMU: District Samba won inaugural match of the IV State Handball Championship, organised by J and K Handball Association at MA Stadium, here on Friday. The event is financially supported by the J and K State Sports Council.
To make it a wining start, Samba trounced district Udhampur 29-11. Neeru remained top scorer for Samba with 13 goals while Ankit contributed four for Udhampur.
Earlier, the event was declared open by Secretary, J and K State Sports Council, Waheed Ur Rehman Parra, who was Chief Guest. He interacted with the participating teams and officials. President of J and K Handball Association, S.M Bali was Guest of Honour.
Also present were Association General Secretary, Ashwani Kumar Raina, Treasurer, Krishan Lal, Joint Secretary, Mohd. Ashraf Parray and Sandeep Verma.
The competition is being officiated by the technical panel comprising Gaurav Sharma, Vikram Dogra, Chander Shekhar and Bhawana.
The Results: Samba beat Udhampur 29-11; Bandipora defeated Kathua 15-11; Rajouri defeated Srinagar 8-3; Poonch blanked Kupwara 24-02.
