KATRA: Samba District Indian Style Wrestling Championship will be held on 7th January, at Peer Baba Stadium, Bari Brahmana under the aegis of J and K State Sports Council.
The decision in this regards was taken in a meeting held under the chairmanship of President J and K Indian Style Wrestling Association Shiv Kumar Sharma, here on Tuesday.
Others who attended the meeting were Bansi Lal Tidyal, Prithvi Raj Sharma, Mulk Raj Sharma, Yogeshwar Singh, Prem Kumar, Capt. Baloch Din, Capt. Karnail Singh and Retd. JE Surinder Kumar.
General Secretary of the State Association Bansi Lal Tidyal said that the weigh-in of wrestlers will start at 10.00 AM sharp and bouts will start at 11.00 AM.
Chairman Technical Committee Mulkh Raj Sharma, NIS Wrestling coach disclosed that championship will be held in the seven weight categories of 55Kg, 61Kg, 67Kg, 75Kg, 85Kg, 97Kg, and above up to 120Kg as par the latest norms of Indian Style Wrestling Association of India.
President Samba District Indian Style Wrestling Association Yogeshwar Singh said gold medalist wrestlers in each weight categories will also participate in the coming Senior State Indian Style Wrestling Championship.
