RAMBAN: The Sajan Cricket Club (SCC) Chandrog won the Second Intra District Abdul Rehman T20 Cricket tournament defeating the Maligam Cricket Club (MCC) by 23 runs at District Police Lines here on Thursday.
The Chief Guest, Neelam Kumar Langeh, MLA Ramban accompanied by the SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar was introduced to the players of both the playing teams.
Chasing 75, the MCC was bundled out at 53 in the last over. Gulzar Ahmed of SCC got a hat-trick.
Arshad Katoch of MCC was declared as the Man of the Match and the Best Batsman while Imran Malik of SCC as the Man of the Series and Adnan Ganai of MCC as the Best Bowler.
The winner team was awarded with cash prize of Rs. 15,500 and the runners up with cash prize of Rs. 8,000.
The tournament was organized by Akhter Abbas Naik, President, Peer Panchal Youth Sports and Welfare Association in collaboration with the J and K Police in the memory of the first martyr of the district, Head Constable, Abdul Rehman Malik.
Malik was martyred when he was shot dead by the ambushing militants at Grid Station near the Banihal Police Station in 1991.
Langeh exhorted the youth to indulge in sports to distract from the social evils like drug addiction besides keeping themselves fit and active.
