KATHUA: Safaikaramcharis of various municipal committees on Wednesday celebrated regularisation of 565 casual workers of various municipal committees here at Kathua.
As per press release, an impressive Vijay Rally was taken out from Shaheedi Chowk Kathua, which after passing through main bazaar culminated at Muncipal Committee Office Kathua.
The members of municipal committee accorded warm welcomed to Dev Anand Gill, President Safaikaramchari Union Local Bodies, for his tireless effort to peruse the issue with State Government.
On the occasion, Choudhary Lal Singh former MP and BJP leaders also felicitated Dev Anand Gill and his team for taking up the matter so vigourously.
The civic workers distributed sweets among the people and hailed Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Nawang Rigzin Jora, Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies for conceding to the long pending demand of casual workers.
The workers also thanked Sajad Ahmed Kichloo, MoS Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies, Satesh Nehru, Secretary to the Department, K.L Khajuria, Director Local Bodies Jammu, and Vinod Kumar, Deputy Director, Local Bodies Jammu, for their efforts in resolving the matter of casual workers.
Speaking on the occasion, Dev Annad Gill said that regularisation was the long pending demand of casual workers and the matter was taken up by the union with government several times. He also welcomed the regularisation 565 casual civic workers of various municipal committees.
He asked the government to grant employees 2 ½ days salary and announces medical insurance as agreed earlier.
Tersem Hans, Kali, Usha Devi, Krishn Lal, Jassa, Subash, Lucky, Gulshan Devi, David, Raju, William, Ashok Masi, Amit Masi, Dil Mohammad and others were present in the meeting.
