Safaikaramcharis seek salary under Minimum Wages Act

JAMMU: Safaikaramcharis Union on Thursday held agitation demanding implementation of Minimum Wages Act in the State.
The Safaikaramchairs led by their Chairman Nazir Ahmad said that their file for approval is pending in Finance Department and nothing has been done till date.
He said, “we are working in JKISM Department as Safaiwalas full time in different JKISM Centres for the last 20 years and the department gives us only Rs 200, Rs 500 or Rs 900 per month as wages which are not sufficient for us.”
They requested Governor N.N Vohra to process their file and solve their issue and give them minimum wages under Minimum Wages Act.
