Safai Karamchari Union calls off strike

JAMMU: Civic Safai Karamchari Union (CSKU) on Saturday called off their strike after getting written assurance by Commissioner JMC, Mandeep Kour for considering their genuine demands including scrapping of NGO system in the Corporation, re-organization of the department, DPC, etc.
Giving details, President CSKU, Rinku Gill informed that the Commissioner had assured the Union for scrapping of NGO system by converting the Safai Karamcharis into casual workers. He said the Commissioner has informed that the file of Department Promotions Committee (DPC) has already been sent to Secretariat for approval. He maintained that the Commissioner had also assured that the drivers who had completed seven years of service in the Corporation will be regularized.
Joint Commissioner JMC, R.S Jamwal said that the Corporation has considered the genuine demands of the sanitation workers.
Gill expressed gratitude to the JMC authorities for considering the genuine demands of the Safai Karamcharis and assured full cooperation to the corporation for its smooth run.
