BARAMULLA: A seminar on Right to Information (RTI) was organised in collaboration with NSS, University of Kashmir at Government Women’s College Baramulla on Wednesday. Chief Information Commissioner, J and K, G.R Sofi was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
During the seminar the participants were made aware about the RTI Act being implemented in the State. The speakers deliberated upon various aspects of RTI Act and emphasised that the Act makes the governance of the administration transparent and helps in establishment of good governance.
While deliberating on the topic, Chief Information Commissioner said that RTI is based on the agenda that every person has access to each and every bit of information. He said that RTI is an extension of the right to freedom of speech and expression in our constitution. The Chief Commissioner also deliberated upon the role of Women Folk in the information sector, by discussing the role of journalists and novelists Arundahti Roy.
Among others Principal Women are College Baramulla, Coordinator Distance Education Kashmir University, officers of District Administration were present.
