Rs 3,56,600 fine recovered from traffic offenders

KATHUA: A team of Regional Transport Office Kathua held extensive checking of the vehicles on the National Highway and realised fine to the tune of Rs 3,56,600 from defaulters of Motor Vehicle Act, 1988.
The team of RTO Kathua comprising Motor Vehicle Inspectors Kamal Kumar, Rajiv Kundal and Vinod Chalotra under the supervision of RTO Kathua Amarjeet Singh conducted overnight checking on National Highway.
During the checking around 350 vehicles were checked out of which 128 vehicles were compounded on the spot for overloading, violation of route permit conditions, fitness, pollution norms, dangerous driving, and various other offences under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. Besides, three vehicles were seized and three others were Challaned under various section of MV Act 1988.
Earlier, 18 passenger autos were challaned for overloading and 14 passenger autos were seized for not possessing the valid documents.
The department besides imposing fine has also suspended the driving licences for violation of the provisions of Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 in compliance to the Directions of the Supreme Court Committee on road safety.
