SRINAGAR: A team of Food Safety Officers of Drugs and Food Control Organisation headed by Assistant Commissioner Food Safety Srinagar inspected Industrial Estate Baghi Ali Mardan Khan Srinagar on Thursday and destroyed on spot Rs 3.75 lakh worth food-affected food items in various areas of the Srinagar City..
During the inspection one spice manufacturing unit namely M/S Idrees Enterprises was found adding synthetic color (Sudan Dye) in red chilies powder, which is prohibited under Food Safety and Standards Act. As many as 734 kgs of chili powder was seized and samples of the same were sent for analysis. Another unit holder of spices namely Shaheen Spices was found adding turmeric powder to Sounf power where 500 kgs of such Sounf powder was seized and samples sent for analysis.
