The Bold Voice of J&K

Rose-flavoured drinks

0 89

Dear Editor,
The Maggi controversy has been dominating headlines for the past few days. It is surprising that no one from the media has recalled that mega-star Amitabh Bachchan had disclosed his not advertising for cola-drinks after a school student in Jaipur drew his attention to harmful ingredients in the drinks. It is significant that cola companies voluntarily stopped selling cola-drinks in schools worldwide in view of increasing obesity in school-going children.
If Maggi noodles can be banned for its harmful contents, then the government should also not only ban advertisements but even the sale of cola drinks in the country. It is time that the Union Government, the Indian Agricultural Research Institute and soft-drink manufacturers revive drinks like the old and famous rose-flavoured ones, which can not only replace cola-drinks in India but even dominate global market, in tune with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious ‘Make in India’ concept.
