Rising Star Corps extends helping hand to flood affected
AKHNOOR: With decrease in rains in Jammu area, the flood situation is heading towards normalcy, but the life of people from flood ravaged areas is still far from becoming normal. The people still have to fight for their survival due to lack of food and medical help. Severe damage to roads and bridges has made the rescue and rehabilitation operations a difficult task.
The Rising Star Corps and its formations, in a proactive manner, have been extending a helping hand to flood affected families of Jammu area. Apart from rescuing stranded people, they have been providing them essential life sustenance support, including food, water, medical care and temporary accommodation. The army has also commenced work restore road communication, wherever possible. The Rising Stars Corps has also donated huge amount of relief material to flood affected area in and around Srinagar.
In their efforts to reach out to the flood affected people of Jammu, Rising Star Corps has provided six tonnes of food, including rice, flour, pulses etc to displaced families from the flood affected areas. Rising Star Corps has also donated approximately 13 tonnes of packed food and 7,000 bottles of mineral water to the flood affected people in Srinagar and areas around.
Apart from that, the Army Engineers have commenced construction of a 100 meters long bridge on Nikki Tawi River at Mandal, which will help restore road connectivity to flood affected area in the vital forward areas near International Border in Jammu. Four Engineer Task Forces comprising of over 250 army persons and necessary rescue equipment have also commenced rescue work in flood affected areas of Akhnoor and Rajauri Sectors.
The prompt and proactive action by the flood relief teams and engineer task forces of the Rising Star Corps to assist in bringing normalcy in Jammu region, after the devastating flood have been deeply appreciated by the people of Jammu region.
