JAMMU: Asking that Article 370 of the Constitution infringes the fundamental rights of the Indian citizens in context of Jammu and Kashmir State in many ways, Panun Kashmir, the organisation of displaced Pandits, on Wednesday asked Government of India that it is right time to consider the issue of abrogation of Article 370 from the Indian Constitution.
“It is Article 370 that has provided a constitutional mechanism to perpetuate the concept of secession in the J and K State and which justifies a psychological drift from the national mainstream giving rise to absurd theories of sub-nationalism in Kashmir,” Prof. M.L Raina, Chairman, Political Affairs Committee told reporters, here on Wednesday.
This constitutional aberration, he said, has created a state within a State in Jammu and Kashmir which has further deprived its citizens from the developmental circuit evolved by the Central Government for all the states.
Expressing deep appreciation of the efforts put in by the valiant security forces in Jammu and Kashmir State to eliminate the menace of terrorism, Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, President, Panun Kashmir said that the security grid that has been made operational for cleansing the Valley of the scourge of terror is doing an excellent work with the cooperation of army, paramilitary forces and the JK Police.
“Now the time has come to simultaneously start the process of de-radicalisation of the Kashmir society and the recent NIA raids and investigations are a step in the right direction.” He said adding that the fight against the ‘dirty war’ in Kashmir needs to be taken to the logical conclusion and in this context, the steps taken have instilled confidence in the minds of Kashmiri Pandits who have been living in exile for the last three decades.
He reiterated the demand of Homeland for seven lakh Hindus of Kashmir as per the Historic Margdarshan Resolution of 1991. “There is an urgent need for discussion and debate on the subject as to how the people who do not subscribe to the ongoing strife in Kashmir can be freed from the clutches of Kashmir centric political class who day in and day out obey the dictation of the separatist-fundamentalist-terrorist combine in Kashmir,” Virender Raina, National Spokesperson, PK said.
The Government of India, he said, needs to take a tough stand to instill confidence in the nationalist forces in the State and pave way for some tough political decisions preceded by a strong change of narrative in context of Kashmir towards which the present scenario can play a vital role.
