Retired police personnel take out rally, project demands

JAMMU: All J and K Retired Police Personnel NGOs and ORs Forum led by its President Ajit Singh on Saturday took out peaceful rally for fulfillment of their pending demands.
A large number of retired police persons assembled at Exhibition Ground from where they took out rally towards Divisional Commissioner’s office.
Speaking on the occasion, Ajit Singh highlighted various issues of retired police personnel including enhancement of medical allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 3,000 as per Sixth Pay Commission, free of cost medicines and treatment to be provided to the retired police personnel at the police hospitals, reimbursement of medical bills to the police retirees, reservation in recruitment of Police Department and professional courses at the rate of 15 per cent for wards of police personnel, sanction of at least Rs 50,000 at the time of marriage of daughters/sons of the police retirees as a financial help out of welfare funds, and at least Rs 50,000 should be sanctioned at the time of death of police personnel/retirees for performing the last rites of the deceased.
Recently the Central Government has issued Ordinance regarding one rank one pension, he said and asked the government also to follow the same pattern in Police Department.
He further stated that the Government Order No. 229-F of 2014, Dt 17th October, 2014 is not acceptable regarding pay anomalies since the effect is being given prospective, which means the effect will be given from the date of order.
They also demanded compensation for Mohammad Ramzan Bhat (Retd ASI NGO No. 8273), who was engaged in an encounter at Pakharpora, Budgam on 5th March, 2006.
