Retired police personnel hold protest, highlight demands

VIJAYPUR: A protest was held by retired police personnel at Vijaypur in support of their long pending demands. The protest was led by Chairman J and K Police (Non-Gazetted) Pensioners Welfare Association Ajit Singh in which all the retired police personnel of Districts Samba and Kathua participated. The protesters highlighted their demands including removal of pay anomalies, enhancement of Medical Allowance, reservation of their wards in Police recruitment, cashless health care to the retired persons and their dependants at par with army ex-servicemen, payment of a cash relief of Rs 50,000 at the time of death of retired police person for his last rites, etc.
Ajit Singh said that they were assured number of times for removal of pay anomalies but till date the issue remains unattended due to which the retired personnel continue to suffer. He appealed to the Chief Minister to look into their grievances and issue suitable instructions to accede to their genuine demands.
Prominent among those present include District President Samba Ragubir Singh, District President Kathua Sat Paul Sharma, Balwant Singh, Mohammad Sharif, Ashok Kumar, Krishan Singh, Jadish Raj Sharma, Sandal Singh and Devi Dass.
