Retired cops protest, project demands

JAMMU: All J and K Retired Police Personnel Forum held a protest today at Exhibition Ground near Press Club here to press the government to consider their genuine demands.
A large number of retired police personnel under the leadership Ajit Singh gathered and raised slogans against the government for ignoring them.
Addressing the protestors, Ajit Singh held the government responsible for its apathy. He criticised the government and the Police Department for not making any policy for resettlement of police personnel after their retirement.
Ajeet Singh condemned the Government Order No. 229-F of 2014 of 17th October, 2014 and alleged that government has played a joke with the retired police men.
Ajit lamented that no relief has been provided to the retired police personnel, who were fighting this case since 1996.
They also demanded enhancement of Medical Allowance from Rs. 300 to Rs. 1,000 as per Sixth Pay Commission, free of cost medicines and treatment from the police hospitals, 15 per cent quota in recruitment of Police Department and professional courses, Rs 50,000 at the time of marriage of daughters / sons of the police retirees as a financial help out of welfare funds, at least Rs 50,000 at the time of death of retired police personnel for performing the last rites of the deceased.
They also said that at the time of death of any retirees, the DGP J and K will issue necessary orders to all SSPs regarding providing of Guard of Honour to the deceased police person at the cremation ground. They also demanded one rank one pension benefit in Police Department.
