Dear Editor,
As appeared in newspapers of Feb, 2017 an amount of Rs 170 crores was sanctioned by the central Govt. under National Rivers conservation plan for keeping this Holy River clean although corores of rupees have already been spent for this purpose which instead of having desired results have benefitted the dwellers and other commercial holders on the bank of this river by providing them protection walls due to which the condition of this river has become from bad to worse and continue so because of wrong planning and implimantation thereof in a half hearted manner as there is rampant corruption. Now after the allotment of these funds about nine months have passed but nothing is visible on grounds perhaps the authorities might be busy in framing detailed project reports of this project but as appeared in newspapers August 30, 2017 as asked by stste vigilance commission to Govt. that the sanctioning authourity for works of all engineering departments should be different from the executive agency so as to creatre an in-built system check aginst corrupt practices. Further in my view to restore the sanctity, glory of this sacred river which in Vedic times was called the elder sister of holy Ganga but now completely dilapidated by contamination of its water due to flowing of garbage and other waste into it from both sides of habitation is to shift all the populous/commercial structures upto 100 mts, constructing big channels, boundary walls, planting medicianal/peepal plants on both sides and keeping gates duely guarded for entrance of the devotees having enternal faith in this Holy River which though difficult but not impossible is the only solution/remedy of the problem. However, to do all this some most competent, sincere, honest, having morality, probity and God fearing officers/officials with aptitude needs to be engaged on this job otherwise the whole of the amount of Rs 170 crores so sanctioned will also go waste because of jaugeernaut of corruption thereby deteriorating condition of this Holy River much more.
