LEH: Residents of Durbuk Block of Changthang assembled at Changla Top and halted traffic to register protest against the abrupt transfer of Principal Higher Secondary School (HSS) Tharuk, Tangtse, who was reportedly transferred to Chushot by the government without taking LAHDC into confidence and also without posting a substitute for the institution.
Led by Durbuk Block Education Committee Chairman Dorjay Stanzin, the protest was participated by Nambardars from Shayok to Chushul, Tangtse Councillor Tashi Namgyal and Chushul Councillor Stanzin Konchok.
Blocking traffic movement to famous tourist’ destination Pangong Lake for several hours, the agitators raised slogans against J and K Commissioner Secretary Education, Farooq Ahmed Shah.
“We have suspended our agitation on the assurance of Minister for Ladakh Affiars, Chering Dorjay and CEC LAHDC, Dr. Sonam Dawa who took up the issue strongly with the government and we have been assured that the new principal will be posted immediately,” Chushul Councillor Stanzin Konchok said. He further added that Additional Deputy Commissioner Moses Kunzang come to Changla Top to meet the residents and assured that new principal will be appointed within two days.
