Remove all bottlenecks to complete development projects in Srinagar City as per revised deadlines: Administration

SRINAGAR: There are many under -construction projects in Srinagar which are much needed and some of them are pending for a long time , which have jumped many deadlines in the past .An example of this is the Noor Jahan Bridge over the Jhelum at Qmarwariin Srinagar, other projects are Lasjan Grade Separator; Flyovers at Nowgam, Sanat Nagar and Bemina Bypass Corridor.
The District administration reviewed the progress of work on major developmental projects including ongoing construction works on Lasjan Grade Separator on NH-44 (Jammu-Srinagar highway), Flyovers at Nowgam Junction, Sannat Nagar Chowk and Bemina Crossing to improve flow of traffic on heavy loaded traffic intersections of the District.
Construction works is in progress on Noor Jehan Bridge being constructed over River Jhelum at Qamarwari at an estimated cost of Rs 10 crore. At Lasjan, works on the 560-meter span Flyover/Grade Separator being executed by NHAI at an estimated cost of Rs 1.03 crore.
As per the statement of the Project Manager of Lasjan Grade Seperator ,the current status of work of work in progress is that over 90 percent of the work on the project has been completed and Bitumen/finishing works are going on in full swing.
The concerned executing agency is trying to speed up the work and complete the project as per the revised deadline by deploying additional men and machinery to improve traffic movement on the National Highway .
While the work on the 0.85 km span flyover at Nowgam Crossing is in progress at a cost of Rs 36.93 crore. The Administration said, that more than 55 percent of the work has been completed which includes piling work and work of pile cape and including pier caps.
Authorities stressed to the construction agencies on accelerating the pace of construction work on the Flyover and set a November, 2023 deadline for its completion.
Officials urged the construction agencies to speed up the construction work on the Sanatnagar flyover and set the deadline of November for its completion. Sanatnagar flyover construction work is underway on the 0.85 km under estimated cost of Rs 37 crore. Concerned Sit engineer have raised issues related to removing barriers and erecting barricades around the construction site of the project to divert traffic to an alternative route and brought them to the notice of the district administration.
Meanwhile district administration gave directions to the concerned officers to address the issues immediately so that works on the project are carried smoothly.
At Bemina crossing, the pace and progress of ongoing work on construction of flyover at busy junction of Bemina bypass being executed at a cost of Rs 31.49 crore by PWD. The concerned executing agency said ,to accelerate the pace of work by employing additional manpower and machinery to complete the prestigious project by the end of September this year. He said, that ,over 55 percent of works on flyover at Bemina junction stands completed so far and the project will be completed in full within set timelines.
Construction works on Noor Jehan Bridge being constructed by R&B over River Jhelum at Qamarwari at an estimated cost of Rs 10 crore and till date the project has jumped several deadlines. As per the officials of the concerned agency ,on which more than over 85 percent of the work on the bridge has been completed , the remaining work will be completed within the shortest possible time. By completion of Noor Jehan Bridge, the decade old demand of the local population will be fulfilled and shall also bring significant change in the movement of traffic flow.
Administration is hopeful that as soon as these prestigious projects on NH-44 (Jammu-Srinagar highway) are completed shall improve transport facilities in Srinagar and also will prove helpful to overcome traffic congestion along the highway and on other important road corridors.
