Remind people, younger generation about role of Indira Gandhi: Mir

JAMMU: State unit of Congress on Thursday decided to celebrate the centenary Birth Anniversary of Indira Gandhi in every nook and corner of the State during the year and will highlight her role model, who gave new strength and recognition to the nation in the world.
In the meeting held here on Thursday, PCC President G.A Mir said in the wake of current attempts by the Modi regime and BJP to distort history and belittle the role of great stalwarts of Congress, it is more relevant to remind the people and aware the younger generation about the role of Indira Gandhi.
JKPCC Chief also discussed and chalked a detailed schedule of programmes in connection with 100th Birth Anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi throughout the year in all parts of the State. Mir also took stock of the prevailing situation and current issues faced by the people of different sections in the State. The meeting deliberated upon various issues confronting the people and the current political scenario in the country in reference to the role and contributions of Congress Party and leadership of Indira Gandhi. Senior leaders like Dharampal Sharma Ex. MP, P. Namgyal former Union Minister, Bashir Ahmed Margray Ex. MLC and Madan Lal Sharma Ex MP narrated the historical role of Indira Gandhi especially in the situation of vendetta during the Janta Party rule and how she turned the tide with the support of crores of workers and common people. They recalled the leadership of Indira Gandhi who was known as an ‘Iron lady’ worldwide for her bold decisions.
