LEH: Like other parts of India the concluding day of the fortnight long celebration of the 70th Independence Day on the theme ‘Yaad Karo Qurbani’ was also conducted today at Eliezer Joldan Memorial College Leh.
The programme began by flagging off 5000 Mtrs race among girls and boys students of college by CEC Dr. Sonam Dawa Lonpo in presence of Executive Councilor for Agriculture Tsering Wangdus and Executive Councilor for Tourism Tsering Sandup. Students of college presented a scintillating sequence of patriotic song, skit and dance followed by national anthem.
CEC LAHDC Leh Dr. Sonam Dawa, who presided as the Chief Guest, observed that it is important to remember the supreme sacrifice of Indian freedom fighters more frequently. Underlining the equal and unforgettable contribution of war heroes of Ladakh in protecting the frontiers of the motherland since 1948, Dr Dawa paid rich tribute to the martyrs and thanked their family members for their great contribution. Later the guests distributed prizes to the students who excelled in sports, essay writing and painting competitions.
