Relief to flood victims of Jammu Division; Div Com asked to comply with directions

JAMMU: In a Public Interest Litigation filed by two advocates namely Ajay Bakshi and Tariq Rasool Wani highlighting the inaction of the government to deal with the situation caused by the unprecedented floods in the State of Jammu and Kashmir, especially in Jammu region, a Division Bench of State High Court Comprising Chief Justice M.M Kumar and Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur after hearing Advocate Sachin Dogra appearing for the PIL whereas Senior AAG Gagan Basotra appearing for the state observed that order dated 14th November, 2014 has not been complied with, yet the order has remained without compliance.
Advocate Sachin Dogra appearing for the petitioners has argued that there are families to whom no-one has even approached and notice has been taken in order dated 14th November, 2014 that details of 30 families in CMA No. 295/2014 were given, who did not either receive any relief or the relief given was very meager.
Division Bench granted last opportunity to the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu to comply with the directions issued on 14th November, 2014 by putting the whole data on the website and comply with other directions. The details be provided to the Court so that necessary directions may be issued, if required. The needful shall be done a week before next date of hearing. Division Bench further observed that if order dated 14th November, 2014 is not complied with, the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu shall remain present in person to explain as to why he has failed to comply with the directions. JNF
