Relief assessment, essential services reviewed

KATHUA: District Development Commissioner, Kathua, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary reviewed the progress achieved by field revenue officials regarding assessment of damage inflicted to crops in the district due to heavy rainfall and hailstorm; and disbursal of relief. Status of essential services was also reviewed.
The DC reviewed the status of ongoing Girdarwari in all the Tehsils with special emphasis on assessment of crops damage (kharaba) and gender profiling as well as literacy survey in the district which has been launched along with the Girdawari. Progress on NERPAP, Aaadhar enrolment and BPL survey was also reviewed. He called for concerted efforts to achieve the results in prescribed timeframe and ensuring timely benefits to affected families where crops have been damaged and for coverage of beneficiary families in various schemes ensuring direct benefit transfer.
Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars have been directed to display the consolidated damage assessment reports prominently in Tehsil and Niabat offices for public scrutiny and also displaying same on the website. General damage report followed by Asaami-wise loss report will be
displayed to ensure public scrutiny.
Tehsildars, BDOs and Naib Tehsildars have been entrusted with ensuring maintenance of essential services in their respective areas. The work being done by these officers was also reviewed. The DC directed the officers to ensure monitoring of essential services and reporting to him immediately regarding shortage of ration supply, power and water problem and other demands related to health, transport and related departments. He appreciated the efficient efforts being made by officers for reaching out to public and coming up with redressal of public grievances.
Public Service Guarantee, RTI, monthly progress reports, removal of encroachments, eviction from State land / forest land / Kahcharai, Roshni cases, public meetings, revenue meetings and other issues were discussed in the meeting and officers were directed for extensive field touring and ensuring prompt redressal of grievances. Officers were briefed about their roles and responsibilities under single line administration and their obligation for putting up best possible efforts.
Shortage of funds for maintenance of essential services and shortage of staff was also discussed in the meeting.
Addl DC Dr Mushtaq Ahmed, AC Anshul Garg, ACR Atul Gupta, Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars; District Officers of CAPD, PHE, PDD, Transport and Rural Development attended the meeting.
