JAMMU: Emphasising on the need for early release of two pending installments of 17 per cent DA, President of the National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) Subash Shastri on Sunday urged upon the State Government to expedite formalities for issuing necessary orders with regard to release of these installments to the State Government employees and the pensioners.
Addressing a largely attended rally of the NMC activists here, Shastri stated that in view of the inbuilt provisions in the annual budget, there should not be any hitch for the State Government, more so when others states have already released the 17 per cent DA installment since long said and adding that early decision in this regard would be genuine measure to provide some relief to them.
While pleading the cause of poor daily rated workers, Shastri also asked the main stream political parties to make their respective stand clear regarding regularization of the services of 62,000 causal/seasonal laborers/ad hoc and contractual employees of the State Government, adding that these parties should incorporate their firm stand regarding the fate of these workers in their election manifesto. He said, that, if the particular party is sincere about this sensitive issue, they should make a commitment in their manifesto that if the party comes in power or become part of the Coalition Government, they will take and settle the issue in its first cabinet meeting itself.
This will be a major political issue in the ensuing elections of State Assembly and will be a pivotal issue in deciding the fate of many candidates in all the 87 constituencies, he added.
