R S PURA: In concert with civil administration, the troops of Tiger Division once again swung into action in RS Pura, Arnia and Ramgarh Sectors to contribute in providing relief to the people, primarily women, children and elderly affected by the ongoing cross border firing and shelling by Pakistan. The help commenced during late night on 6th October 2014 when army assisted in carrying out prompt evacuation of injured persons from the forward areas of Mashe da Kotha in the Ramgarh Sector to the medical facilities at Arnia and Jammu.
Currently, five teams from army are providing medical, tentage, food, water, blankets and temporary sanitary facilities including distribution of toiletry items to over 12,00 affected personnel who have been temporarily provided shelters at various schools and buildings co-established by the army and civil administration. These include camps at Govt School and Golden Palace at Deoli, Rehal, Haptal and Ramgarh. The army teams include medical officers to address the medical needs of these large numbers of person. In addition, the army has also kept bullet proof vehicles on standby for prompt evacuation, if required.
The locals whole heartedly appreciated these efforts by the Indian Army which continued unabated even in the face of heavy storm during the night of 7th October. The relief measures will continue till the border situation normalises. In addition to providing relief, the border population is also being made aware of actions and precautions to be taken against enemy shelling and firing.
