Region pays tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, Lal Bahadur Shastri

UDHAMPUR: To celebrate Gandhi Jayanti and the Birth Anniversary of Late Prime Minister of India Lal Bahadur Shastri, a function was organised by the Congress activists under the leadership of Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) State Secretary Sumeet Magotra. Several Congress leaders showered flowers on the pictures of Father of Nation and the great late Prime Minister of India and recalled their services rendered to the nation. In his presidential address State Secretary INTUC Sumeet Magotra said that the Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi was the real hero of the freedom struggle and his struggle was based on Ahinsa Parmo Dharma where as late Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri was always remembered for leading the country during Indo – Pak war in 1965 and his ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kissan’ slogan is still required in present turmoil. Others who were present in the function include Jeevan Sharma, Shivam Sharma, Rajesh Gupta, Ganesh Phangalia, Mohd Yasir, Raj Kumar Abrol, Ashish Padha, Balwant Singh, Kunnal Singh, Vijay Kumar Kalotra, Sardar Kamaljeet Singh, Mohd Gafoor, Kamla Devi and Savitri Devi.
Meanwhile, Gandhi Jayanti and Birth Anniversary of Lal Bhaduar Shashtri was celebrated in the premises of Govt Girls High School Sattani Udhampur with the co-operation- of BEd trainees of Bharatiya BEd College Udhampur, to pay tributes to great leaders. The programmes started with the lighting of lamp by Chief Guest H M Mridula Sharma and garlanding the greatest leaders.
At the culmination HM Mridula Sharma advised to follow the path of non – violence, truth, cleanliness.
The members of NGO Jiyo Aur Jeene Do organised a programme on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti and Shastri Jayanti to pay floral homage to these great personalities of our nation and also to continue the Swach Bharat Mission. The members organised a cleanliness drive at Tilak Nagar and also the residential quarters of R and B near the Head Office of NGO. The members of NGO gathered and cleaned the surrounding area of Tilak Nagar and also planted a few saplings.
President of NGO Tariq Shah, members Sanjay, Vijay, Krishna, Sahil, Ramrattan, Tarun and many others participated in the cleanliness drive.
District Administration Udhampur organised an awareness campaign on Swacch Bharat Abhiyan to mark the second anniversary of Swach Bharat Abhiyan.
Officers of Rural Development Department, District Health Society, Cyclist Association, Civil Society members and NGOs besides local people actively participated in the event to make it a success.
District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Niraj Kumar flagged off the cyclothon rally and joined other participants with a motive to spread the message of Swach Bharat among the general public of the district.
About 150 cyclists carrying banners of Swachh bharat participated in the cyclothon and generated awareness among the common masses.
Meanwhile, LVD workers led by State President Vikram Singh Slathia remembered Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minster Lal Bahdur Shastri on the occasion of their Jyanti. Slathia presented flowers on portraits of Gandhi and Shastri.
Gandhi Memorial College of Education at Raipur celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with enthusiasm, commitment, and sobriety. The programme started with traditional lighting of lamp by Principal GMCEJ, Prof. Satish Talashi, Subhan Ali along with staff of GMCEJ. Achin Dubey and Mohit Kumar compered the programme to pay tributes to Gandhi.
Volunteers of Manav Uttan Seva Samiti (MUSS) also celebrated Ghandhi Jyanti here in Udhampur. Volunteers organised a cleanliness drive in the premises of Raj Hans Park in District Hospital Udhampur. Drive was launched by MS District Hospital Udhampur Dr. Narinder Singh and Sadvi Samta Bai Ji.
Students of Happy Model Higher Secondary School celebrated Gandhi Jyanti in Udhampur . On this occasion number of activities were arranged by the school. Dr. Vikram Gulati threw light upon life of Mahatma Gandhi and urged the students to follow the noble steps of late Gandhi.
KISHTWAR: Dulhasti Power Station conducted cleanliness drive on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi birthday celebration.
In order to make country clean Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday celebration i.e. 2nd October as cleanliness day. In pursuance of this cleanliness drive was organised by the Dulhasti Power Station.
Cleanliness drive was carried out by NHPC employees and CISF personnel in and around office complexes and residential colonies of Dulhasti Power Station. In this drive Harish Bulchandani Chief Engineer (C), Suresh Kumar Chief Engineer (E), Satish Kumar Parihar Senior Manager Law other employees of DPS and CISF personnel were present.
BHADARWAH: On the occasion of Ghandhi Jayanti- The day on which Prime Minister Narinder Modi started one of his most ambitious programe towards clean India, Bhadarwah unit of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) in presence of its District President Advocate Manjeet Razdan organised a cleanliness drive in Bhadarwah town under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
The drive in which dozens of BJP workers and office bearers participated was aimed at to inculcate sense of cleanliness among all the sections of society.
BJP workers gathered at Lakshmi Narayan Temple in the morning and under the leadership of Advocate Manjeet Razdan started a cleanliness drive in Vasuki Dera, Mohallah Khakhal, Seri Bazaar and in Ganpat Market localities of Bhadarwah town.
The programme culminated at Shahidi Smarak on Chobia link road, where BJP workers and other volunteers pledged to carry forward the Swachh Bharat Mission of PM Narinder Modi and ensured their contribution towards the cleanliness of not only their surroundings but body and soul as well.
Advocate Manjeet Razdan, Ramneek Singh, Raj Singh Charak,Raj Singh Kotwal, Vinod Prohit, Bishan Dass, Nand Pal Dogra, Jaswantv, Bal Krishan, Master Krishna Razdan and Sanjay Saraf were present on the ocassion.
RAJOURI: BJP Urban Mandal of Rajouri organised a cleanliness drive at Bus Stand Rajouri. The programme was organised to mark the completion of the second year of the Swacch Bharat Abhiyan. On this occasion a large number of citizens of Rajouri also participated.
The programme started with cleanliness drive which was led by Kuldeep Raj Gupta, MoS and Chairman Phari Advisory Board and MLC Vibodh Gupta. BJP Rajouri Unit President Dinesh Sharma, Atam Gupta, Kamal Bakshi, Darbar Choudhary, Nishu Gupta, Amrish Gupta, Nischal Gupta, Bodh Raj and Vackey Gupta were also present on the occasion.
SAMBA: Government Higher Secondary School Sumb (Samba) celebrated the Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi’s Birthday. The celebrations included performing of poems, speeches and skit by the students of the school. The Principal of School Gurbachan Lal encouraged and appreciated the students throughout the function.
Meanwhile, an impressive function was held in Government Girls Higher Secondary School Jakh for celebrating the birth anniversary of Father of Nation Mahatama Gandhi and late former Prime Minister of INDIA Lal Bahadur Shashtri.
Deputy Commissioner Samba, Sheetal Nanda along with all staff members and children paid floral tributes to both the leaders.
Poem recitation and slogan writing competitions were held during the programme in which the participants highlighted the various aspects of Gandhiji’s life and gave the message of Non Violence, Peace, Self Reliance, Women Empo werment, Untouchability, Cleanliness, etc.
DC distributed Prizes amongst the best performer’s.
In connection with the celebration of Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and the culmination of special Swacch Bharat Abhiyan, Chander Prakash Ganga Minister for Industries and Commerce and Jugal Kishore Sharma Member Parliament Jammu Poonch conducted the cleanliness drive at Sarore in district Samba
REASI: To mark celebrations on the occasion of birth anniversary of Father of Nation Mohan Das Karam Chand Gandhi and Former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, District Development Commissioner Reasi organised a mega programme at Mini Secretariat DC Office Complex Reasi on Swachh Bharat Week Celebrations ( 25th of Sept.2016 to 2nd October, 2016) which was started in the district on the birth anniversary of Deen Dayal Upadhaya and concluded today on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhji.
Ajay Nanda, MOS, Finance, planning, IT, Law Justice an dParliamentary Affairs, CAPD, Tribal Affairs, R&R L&E was the Chief Guest on the occasion and Ravinder Kumar, Deputy Commissioner was the Guest of Honour. More than 3000 people participated in the mega event from different parts of the district who witnessed colourful cultural programmes and live Nukkad Nataks pertaining to Swachh Bharat Mission(SBM).
Anjusha Sharma, a renowned national fame singer and the daughter of the Soil was appointed as Brand Ambassador for “Swachh Bharat Mission” with slogan Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Beti Ke liye Shochalya Banao for district Reasi.
The move is aimed at adding impetus to mission mode completion of IHHL and make Reasi 100 per cent open defecation free district.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra( KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J) organised Swachhata Campaign at organic village Talwara of Reasi district in which large number of farmers/officials of the area enthuatically participated.
The programme was organised under the guidance of Associate Director Extension(ADE) of SKUAST-J Dr. R.K. Arora. Dr. Banarsi Lal, Incharge(Head), KVK, Reasi gave a detailed view on Swachhata Campaign and appealed everyone to become a part of this national campaign and make their efforts to clean their homes, streets, roads, crops fields etc. so that the drive of clean India can be successful.
KATHUA: Congress workers of Kathua Unit organised a function and paid homage to Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi and second Prime Minister of India Lal Bahadar Shastri on their Birth Anniversary under the leadership of Subash Gupta former MLC President District Congress kathua. Prominent among those who participated include Yugal Kishor Bali, Narinder Rathor, Master Sat Pal Sharma, Ruldu Ram, Ramesh Kumar, Anant Ram Dogra, Marari Lal, Master Sangroo Ram, Sanjeev Mather and Advocate Mool Raj.
POONCH: As a part of Gandhi Jayanti celebrations a two week long Swachh Bharat Programme was started in the presence of Member Legislative Assembly Shah Mohammad Tantary.
On the occasion an awareness rally was flagged from Parade Ground by MLA which culminated at District Hospital Poonch.
A drive is being vigorously taken up in each ward in Poonch municipal limits as well in each Panchayat and village of the district to generate awareness among masses about the importance of maintaining cleanliness.
Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Mohammad Harun Malik, Additional Deputy Commissioner Poonch Gur-vinder Jeet Singh, Executive Officer Municipality Irshad Sofi, District Panchyat Officer Majid Jahangir besides large number of people were present on the occasion.
