JAMMU: Shiv Sena (Bala Sahib Thackery) on Saturday appealed to the Central Government to reduce term of State Legislative Assembly (LA) from six years to five years.
Addressing the media persons here on Saturday, Party State President Dimpy Kohli said that in whole India the one term of Legislative Assembly is five years but in Jammu and Kashmir the one term of Legislative Assembly is six years which is a big injustice with the people of Jammu and Kashmir who have full faith in the Constitution of India.
“To make term of six years is a political gimmick which gives benefit only to the politicians who are in seat and general public has nothing to do with the six years term of Legislative Assembly,” he said.
He added that before elections political leaders speak different language but after elections political leaders sing different tune which suits them.
“This is very unfortunate that despite many appeals Central Government has not taken any decision to reduce the one time term of State Legislative Assembly to five years,” he said adding that if their demand is not fulfilled at the earliest party will start big agitation against government.
On the occasion, several leaders from Baramulla area of Kashmir region also joined Shiv Sena.
Others present on the occasion were Rakesh Gupta, Raj Singh, Vikas Patel, Naresh Bakshi, Radhe Radhe Maharaj, Manohar Lal, Ramesh Gupta, Raju Salaria and Pawan Singh.
