Recover loss from Jats
Dear Editor,
The Jats went amuck, turned violent, blocked road and rail tracks, burnt private and public property and vehicles causing huge loss and blackmailed the government to surrender to their unjust demand for reservation. In contrast, the ex- servicemen’s dharna at Jantar Mantar over the OROP demand remained peaceful despite their demand not having been fully met. As per the principle laid down by the Supreme Court, a collective fine be imposed on the Jats to recover the loss caused by them before giving them any reservation. The compensation to the affected people should come from the pockets of the Jats and not from the government, the tax-payers’ money so that it acts as a deterrent to the protestors to remain non-violent.
